In the hospital

Current mood: hurting , anxious , excited

Well today has been a pretty darn hectic day to say the least...

I got to my room around 10am and got settled in... not much happened after I got in here except my tooth started hurting like crazy. I asked the nurse if I could leave my observation to go to the dentist and come back. The doctor actually allowed it- so I left for a 3 hour leave and went to the dentist. When I got there the dentist would not extract my tooth like I requested because I am on a blood thinner and I might bleed a lot during the procedure. He asked me to contact my doctor so that he could get consent to do it, but I couldn't get a hold of my doctor so I just had to leave the dentist and come back to the hospital.

Not much has happened since I returned other than I just had another non-stress test about an hour ago. It went great! I have had four NST's and this was by far my best and fastest. I was allowed to lie on my side this time, which is the position that I lie in in bed at home to feel her move. She moved like crazy, she was very, very active tonight. There's not a sweeter sound in the world at this point then hearing my baby girl move inside me! And actually feeling it at the same time makes it twice as good! (Those of you that are aware of my situation and my inability to feel most of her movements know how blessed I feel right now.)

I have a busy day ahead- another ultrasound to make sure her fluid level is ok, possibly another NST and hopefully get this darn tooth taken care of tomorrow after I'm released. It's about 10:30 PM now; I think I am assured enough that everything is okay- to go to sleep.

Chillin' at the hospital

Current mood: scared

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday that didn't go so well. I was scheduled for a non-stress test (NST) to monitor the baby and see how her heart rate was and her movements and such. I go for these tests every Tuesday and Friday through the rest of the pregnancy. Well that test was considered non-reactive so they ordered for me to have an ultrasound. The ultrasound lasted around 45 minutes and she really didn't move too much during that either. She did pass the scoring they do, barely, so they sent me home. I didn't leave the office with such a good feeling so I called my doctor after I got home to get more clarification on how things went. The doctor told me to go into the hospital Saturday (today) for a follow up non-stress test. So I got to the hospital at 8:30 this morning and had the test, it came back reactive, which is great! But the doctor wanted to monitor me for 24 hours and start me on steroids for the baby's lung development- to make sure her lungs will be developed enough to be born soon. As well they are switching me from the Innohep blood thinner shots that I have been taking daily- to Heparin. They are doing this now to ensure that it is in my system as long as possible before delivery. If I don't get it, having an epidural would be dangerous- there is a chance that I could develop a blood clot in the spinal cord and worst case scenario- become paralyzed. So this is obviously something I have to do. So the doctor thinks that this is the best place for me right now to keep a good eye on my sugars (because the steroids will make it hard to control for a couple days)… so here I am… Everything is going really good so far… wish us luck!

I have my laptop here so feel free to write me.

PS- delivery could be anywhere from now-three weeks from now ish!
