Chillin' at the hospital

Current mood: scared

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday that didn't go so well. I was scheduled for a non-stress test (NST) to monitor the baby and see how her heart rate was and her movements and such. I go for these tests every Tuesday and Friday through the rest of the pregnancy. Well that test was considered non-reactive so they ordered for me to have an ultrasound. The ultrasound lasted around 45 minutes and she really didn't move too much during that either. She did pass the scoring they do, barely, so they sent me home. I didn't leave the office with such a good feeling so I called my doctor after I got home to get more clarification on how things went. The doctor told me to go into the hospital Saturday (today) for a follow up non-stress test. So I got to the hospital at 8:30 this morning and had the test, it came back reactive, which is great! But the doctor wanted to monitor me for 24 hours and start me on steroids for the baby's lung development- to make sure her lungs will be developed enough to be born soon. As well they are switching me from the Innohep blood thinner shots that I have been taking daily- to Heparin. They are doing this now to ensure that it is in my system as long as possible before delivery. If I don't get it, having an epidural would be dangerous- there is a chance that I could develop a blood clot in the spinal cord and worst case scenario- become paralyzed. So this is obviously something I have to do. So the doctor thinks that this is the best place for me right now to keep a good eye on my sugars (because the steroids will make it hard to control for a couple days)… so here I am… Everything is going really good so far… wish us luck!

I have my laptop here so feel free to write me.

PS- delivery could be anywhere from now-three weeks from now ish!
