One Lucky Lady, One Lucky Pup…

Current mood: grateful

… and soon to be- one lucky baby girl!

I am thankful for the love of my life- Doug; he is my everything. I don't know where I would be without him. He is a wonderful husband and he is sure to be a great daddy!

I am thankful for our home. It may not be huge, it may not be in the best area, but it is ours. Doug has worked hard and is working hard to make this the best possible home for our growing family. I am thankful we are able to remodel our home.

I am thankful for our family. Can't live with them, can't live without them. They are a great group of people. It keeps growing and growing. There is never a dull moment.

I am thankful for my mom; to have been raised by such a strong woman. I wouldn't be the person that I am today without having had her in my life.

I am thankful to have been able to conceive a child. It was definitely a long, hard road to get here; I will never take for granted that we have a baby girl joining us in a few short months.

I am thankful for Cody. I would be lost without him. He is the best pet ever, he's amazing.

I am thankful for our friends. We have great friends, one of them I would do anything for and I'm sure she'd do the same. I am thankful to be back in touch with so many high school friends.

I am thankful for having such an ambitious husband that will do whatever it takes to provide for our family. He works so hard so that I don't have to. He considers us conceiving a child to be a miracle and doesn't want me to work away from home. I truly appreciate everything he does for us.

I am thankful for today, particularly, to have our central air. I would be so miserable without it.

I am thankful that my husband works so hard to provide us with not only one dependable vehicle, but two. I had never before had such a nice vehicle. I am really thankful for our transportation.

I am thankful for our computers and our Internet. I wouldn't be able to communicate with all my wonderful friends and family so easily without it.

I am thankful for our cable. I especially love my Grey's Anatomy and ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Rescue Me.

I am thankful for our cell phones- they are truly a lifeline.

I am thankful to have food in our cupboards.

I am thankful for our excellent medical insurance. If it weren't for it Doug and I would literally never be able to afford to have a child. A couple years ago it paid for my fertility testing and recently has paid for the medications that have kept Addison and I alive and thriving. One medication is a thousand dollars a month, then on top of that- two insulin's and five pills.

I am thankful for our comfort; the ability to purchase new furniture recently.

I am thankful for sleep, thanks to our memory foam mattress. After our trip to New York and the sleepless nights because of the hard bed- I am very happy to have what we have.

I am thankful for our ability to vacation. Life wouldn't be the same without a little get away every now and then.

I am thankful for our new camera. To be able to capture memories in photographs is literally priceless to me. I am thankful that my husband works so hard to be able to provide us with a great camera.

I am thankful to have time and to be able to afford materials to be able to combine my creativity and those photographs into scrapbooks. I can't wait for Addison to grow old enough to cherish the albums; that's what they are for- future generations.

I am thankful to have had the education that I have. Graduating high school and attending college were very important to me.

I am thankful to have my sight.

I am thankful to have my hearing.

I am thankful to have my mobility.

I am thankful to have my health.

I am thankful to have my life… to share my life and the ability to make life.

Excellent doctors appointment!!

Current mood: very happy!

I had a great doctor's appointment this morning!

I had been having back pain every single night for the past few weeks and asked if I could get something for the pain. The nurse said that the doctor would want to see me to make sure I wasn't dilating, going into labor early. So I re-scheduled the appointment I had for the 22nd to today.

They checked me to make sure I wasn't dilated and I am not- so that's good, very good. I didn't gain any weight over the last two weeks- which is okay by me. The last time I was there it had been three weeks since the visit before and I only gained 3 pounds in those three weeks, which is perfect. So my weight is well under control.

They measured my uterus and I am measuring 27 ½ weeks, I am only 24 weeks today- so she is measuring big. That could be because I am diabetic, but could also be just because I am such a big and tall person.

They used a Doppler to hear the heartbeat and after about 6-7 minutes of searching for it they were just about to give up and do an ultrasound to hear it and she came about. She is stubborn, just like her mother. Doug is really in for it. Her heart rate was in the 150's.

After the exam the doctor came in to talk to me and when he walked in he was grinning from ear to ear. I was a little anxious to find out what all the smiles were for and he said "did Kelli tell you what today is?" I must have looked puzzled because he said "you don't know the significance of today?" I replied "no." He said you have hit a HUGE milestone- you are 24 weeks, you have a viable child. That took me back because I considered her viable since I heard her heartbeat when I was 8 weeks along. The more he explained, the more I understood why he was so happy and proud. I could deliver tomorrow and have a very high chance of survival. He wants me to try to go at least 2 more weeks to feel safer, possibly four. I thought to myself, "dang, I would still only be 28 weeks in four weeks, that's not far enough along!" But he assured me the longer I can go the better, but we are into a very safe zone. The bad news- he told me to take it easy the next 4 weeks. I was quite inquisitive when he said that. I told him we were in the middle of remodeling our home and he kinda rolled his eyes in a way and said "do as little as possible and rest often." I went on to question him in detail, asking him if it would be alright for me to paint. We have our bathroom, bedroom, Addison's room, hallway and office remodeled and prepped for paint. He said "absolutely, that would be fine, just make sure that you're not in the room and you are not the one doing the painting, let everyone else do it. The fumes are bad enough- the activity would also be too much." He must have seen the disappointed look on my face because he went on to say "this is the most important thing you will ever do, you want to do it right." I agree, totally, it just sucks knowing that I really don't have anyone to rely on to do the work. The last thing I wanted to do was to bring Addison home to an unfinished nursery. Oh well, he's right, my health and Addison's is far more important than anything.

At the end of the appointment I was told to schedule another appointment in 3 weeks as well as an ultrasound to determine growth. That appointment is July 6th. I can't wait to see Addison again! I can't wait!

Things are going great!!!

Current mood: nostalgic

I put together this lil video of our three great nieces and great nephew that we had living with us from August 19, 2006 - March 28, 2007.When they moved in Christina had just turned 5 (August 3rd), James was 3, and turned 4 (January 14th) in the last few pictures at Caesarland, Rebecca (Becky) was 22 months, and turned 2 (October 21st) in the pictures at Blake's Cider Mill and Makayla was 8 months, and turned 1 (December 21st) in the Christmas celebration pictures.
I hope you enjoy watching this as much as Doug and I enjoyed creating these precious, special memories with Christina, James, Becky and Makayla.
Love,
"Uncle Doug" & "Aunt Mary"
