My 34 Week Doctor Appointment

I had my 34 week NST and doctor appointment today.
The NST went great - baby was active and I had a couple of extremely mild contractions. Addy was so good, as usual :)
After the NST I had the appt. with the doctor, actually the doctor was gone to a conference so I saw his resident.
My blood pressure was good - 118/74. My weight was okay - I haven't gained any since my last visit. However - there was some glucose in my urine. The only explaination the doctor had was that my sugars weren't under control; but they are - they average 78!
She asked me how I wanted to deliver. I told her that I was not adamant on doing it either way. I was actually fearful of a vaginal delivery with Addy but I was going to attempt a VBAC this time. The more we talked and reviewed Addy's labor and delivery we decided it was probably best to deliver via c-section again.
I had a very hard time trying to have a vaginal delivery with Addy.
I was admitted for induction with her at 35 weeks because her fluid was low and she was not reactive during the NST's. The induction was started Friday evening of Labor Day Weekened 2007. 52 hours of labor, three types of induction methods and I never progressed past 3 cm.
She was born via c-section very late Sunday night.

So the plan is to:
1) stop taking my once daily Innohep blood thinner injections when they run out within the week and start my twice daily Heparin injections at that point.
2) Have NST's on:
Mon. 01/25/10 8:45am (34.5 weeks)
Thu. 01/28/10 8:45am (35.0 weeks)
Mon. 02/01/10 8:45am (35.5 weeks)
Thu. 02/04/10 8:45am (36 week dr. appt to follow)
3) Growth and AFI (amniotic fluid index) ultrasound and amniocentesis on:
Mon. 02/08/10 2:00pm
4) NST on:
Mon. 02/08/10 3:00pm

If the amniocentesis comes back that his lungs are mature I will deliver either Wed. 02/10/10 or Thu. 02/11/10 !!!

33.5 Week NST

I had an NST today; all went great. Blood pressure was 106/66 and baby was moving pretty good. I had only one very mild contraction during it. Addy was so good - I am so proud of my big girl!

My 32 Week Doctor Appointment

The beginning of the end...

Today I had my first of many NST's (non-stress tests) and an appointment with the doctor. Seems so surreal that the past 31 weeks have flown by so fast and I am so close to the end that I have started my twice weekly NST's and bi-weekly appointments.
All of my future NST appointments are at 845am - this one started around 9am and lasted until nearly 9:45am. It is always so nice to sit back and listen to the baby move and see that everything is okay. The tech said that the readout couldn't have looked more perfect.
After the NST I went to the doctor side and signed in; I was surprised to say the least that they called me back immediately when I thought I would have to wait until my appointment time at 10am.
I was weighed and am up 6 more pounds since my last visit two weeks ago - which puts my total weight gain for 32 weeks at 32 pounds. I am a little irritated that I am gaining so much but the doctor keeps reassuring me that everything is perfectly fine. Today he actually said "you started out a little underweight, so I actually expect you to gain what most women should - about a pound a week on average". To hear someone say underweight - that was just... surreal...
After my weigh in we went back into the exam room and had my blood pressure taken. My BP was normal as always, so I am very pleased with that. They didn't tell me whether or not I had any protein in my urine- but I suppose they would have informed me if I did.
I have been struggling with some sort of what I thought was a yeast infection; come to find out after my exam today - I have a bacteria infection. I was given a 7 day, 2 pill/day script for an antibiotic - I hope it clears up soon!!!
I talked to the doctor about my restless legs - he assured me that my iron level is perfectly normal but my calcium is a little low so he told me to re-start my calcium tablets.
I also talked to him about a few other things: I wanted to know what the hospitals policy is on having siblings in the delivery room - he said that it should be fine having Addy there - I am SO happy about that! He actually said "lil Addy hasn't missed an appointment yet; I don't want her to miss her lil brothers arrival either!" He is so sweet!
I asked him where exactly my placenta is since it is anterior (in front) and he looked at the chart and showed me that it is pretty much right over my surgery scar (right above my belly button and is about the size of a jumbo pancake.
I asked him why I never got any footprints of Addy's when she was born and he told me that the hospital no longer does them - that they just did them for identification purposes and they just use DNA now.
I talked to him about cord blood banking. He said that as long as I deliver after 34 weeks I can bank it just like I did last time in a public bank. Which means that it will be banked and if someone in the general public needs it they will get it, if we need it first - we would get it. So - it's free of charge.
