First Cabbage Patch Kid

The year was 1986; I was the only kid in my class who didn't have a CPK. That was probably one of the saddest moments of my childhood. I remember everyone going around at recess hanging on to their Kid, and I was there with empty arms, waiting... Christmas passed, and I still didn't get one. Easter passed, still no CPK. I was depressed. I would never get my own CPK. But, for my 8th birthday in 1987, I would wait no more. I had opened all my gifts but one. It didn't look promising. I would have to wait another few months before another present chance came along. But there was my mom, sitting smug in her chair as she handed me this long box. The looks were deceiving... It didn't have the shape of a regular CPK box (the see-thru kind) so I assumed it was not what I wanted. I tore away at the paper, and discovered it was really her! I opened the box, and inside was Katherine Marie. She had red curls and blue eyes. She has been there for me since then, dragged everywhere, and cried on. She's wonderful and I would never give her up for anything!
